Last week, EP Minerals toured members of the Geological Society of Nevada’s 2015 Reno Symposium at our Hazen diatomaceous earth (DE) mine. Our goal was to educate the GSN members about our unique industrial mineral, DE, and to encourage them to educate others. Their goal was to find stickleback fish fossils from millions of years ago that are found in the DE ore.

As president of a global company, it’s important for me to travel frequently –not only to visit industrial minerals customers and distributors, but also to learn more firsthand about what’s going on – all over the world. I need to understand things from our customer’s perspective and listen to them talk about the challenges they face in their country and marketplace. I make better business decisions if I know more.

This Thursday, the Industrial Minerals Association for Northern Nevada will award EP Minerals the IMA Safety Award for 2014 Safety Performance at our Lovelock Mine and also for the Clark Plant. Each of those operations worked over 200,000 employee hours without a MSHA reportable injury or fatality during 2014. This makes EP Minerals one of the few operations among the IMA North America to receive this award, according to Darrell Smith, executive vice president of the IMA.

Get rid of fleas, ants & other insects with organic pest control DE

Our organic insecticide DEsect is useful around the house for control of roaches, silverfish, ants, fleas, crickets, and many other insects. It's the natural alternative to toxic chemicals. It should be applied as a physical barrier that insects must crawl across to get it on them. Apply the DEsect diatomaceous earth product liberally around cracks and crevices, under stoves and refrigerators, and in likely hiding places. Be sure to treat around sinks and drain pipes, and around windowsills, doors and other places where pests may enter. To control fleas in rugs and carpets, sprinkle DEsect™ lightly over carpet and work it into the fibers with a broom or carpet rake. Vacuum the carpet 48 hours after application. When cleaning, do not make a special effort to remove the dust in the rug. It will continue to kill live fleas and repel others.
