EP Minerals' Global Technical Services Director Larry Galberd and his team use EP Minerals' Floor-Dry Oil Absorbent to clean up fuel spills at the racetrack

It's time to check in on our resident racecar driver, Larry Galberd! EP Minerals' Floor-Dry, the #1 oil absorbent and spill clean up for the racetrack, is one of Larry's sponsors.

If you'll recall from a previous blog post, EP Minerals’ Global Technical Services Director Larry Galberd leads a double life. By day, Larry could be anywhere in the world helping our diatomaceous earth or perlite filtration customers optimize their filtration processes and solve problems. By night and on weekends (and any other chance he gets) Larry is driving hell bent for leather at 140 mph for his Blew-By-You race car team in the ChumpCar Racing Series. Larry and his team are “sponsored” (I use that term loosely) by EP Minerals’ Floor-Dry absorbent, the #1 automobile oil spill cleanup product that can be found at all the major auto supply stores today.

Go Larry! And keep promoting Floor-Dry, the #1 oil absorbent at the racetrack!

Thanks to Emily Bell and VinePair for the tequila information.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! So you know that our diatomaceous earth filter aid filters the world's best beers, wines, whiskeys, brandys, sakes and a host of other alcoholic beverages, right? What about the world's largest producer of tequila? Yep, bingo. DE filters tequila, too. It's a great week to celebrate this made-in-Mexico drink, and learn a little about diatomaceous earth filtration and tequila.

Diatomaceous Earth insecticide, a bad year for bugs and National Help a Horse Day

brit1.jpgHappy bug free National Help a Horse Day!

From all the reports we’re seeing lately, this is another bad year for bugs. In the West, they say we will have more bugs because it was a fairly dry winter. In the East, they say we will have more bugs because it was a longer, wetter winter. Whatever. All I know is that I’m seeing an early bunch of ants, spiders, earwigs and flies at my house, and I hate bugs.

Unfortunately, I picked a hobby that is intrinsically associated with bugs. Horses! (fyi, that would be my 25-year-old retired dressage horse Brit in the photo.) This year I’m starting my bug killer mission early with my secret weapon – diatomaceous earth insecticide (DE). The DE insecticide is made from microscopic skeletons of prehistoric algae – diatoms - that simply dry out and slice up insects like a samurai swordsman!

Wow! Opening day is today! It's crazy to have it in March this year! Here at EP Minerals and EP Engineered Clays, we love baseball! Go Dodgers! And Giants, and Nats, Tigers, Angels and our hometown Reno Aces. I think I’ve covered all the favorite teams here in our office. Our inside sales team is such big fans of the Dodgers that they even painted one of their walls Dodger blue! I'm bringing in a can of Giants orange this weekend!
