Our company safety mantra: Everyone returns home safe every day. That’s certainly what we train and practice throughout EP Minerals, but no where is that more important than at our mines and plants. This week, the Nevada Mining Association recognized three of our employees with the NVMA Individual Safety Awards. The award recipients are voted in by their fellow employees, which makes it even more special.
Our 2019 Winners for the NVMA Individual Safety Awards are:
Don Childs, Lovelock Mine Load & Haul Supervisor
Jack Phillips, Lovelock Mine Maintenance Mechanic, Safety Champion
Chris Ruprecht, Lovelock Plant Shift Supervisor
The qualifications for the awards are that the person is a safety example and a safety champion for the rest of the team, that they are dedicated to safe work sites, and that they work hard to ensure that they and their colleagues return home safe and healthy after every shift. The awards will be presented to the recipients during the NVMA’s 41st annual convention in September.

“Safety is the number one priority for the Nevada mining industry,” said Dana Bennett, NVMA president. “These awards reflect that commitment and demonstrate the dedication of all Nevada miners to ensuring that their colleagues return home safe and healthy every day. Congratulations to these distinguished award winners who work hard to make mining one of the safest industries in Nevada.”
Thank you to Don, Jack, and Chris for being such fine examples of safety at our mine and plant. We all can learn from you in practicing our fundamental “Be vigilant about safety.” Every day.
